Biography
Cicely Spencer is a Peer Recovery Specialist Workforce Coordinator and Trainer with Empowered Communities-Workforce and the College of Public Health, School of Nursing. She is Certified as Peer Recovery Specialist trainer with Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) Her primary focus is to provide program coordination, support the career pipeline of PRS interns from training, to experiential learning, to obtaining certification as a CPRS.
Before her time at Mason, Cicely worked as a Reginal and Community Peer Advocate for individuals and their families for over 18 years. During her time with Fairfax County CSB she occupied various roles such as Wellness and Recovery Coordinator with the Office of Individual and Family Affairs, PRS with PACT, and Peer Support Specialist with Crisis stabilization. As a Peer Recovery Specialist Workforce Coordinator and Trainer with GMU Cicely plans to guide PRS Interns through a series of robust practical learning endeavors which require a total 500 experiential hours. Cicely has expressed that she is grateful to have the opportunity to give back her community.
